Carrie Prejean was terminated as Miss California Wednesday, one month after Donald Trump announced she could keep her crown after the firestorm over her stand against same-sex marriage at the Miss USA Pageant earlier his year and questionable modeling photos that surfaced shortly after.

The pageant says the decision to axe the beauty queen was because she allegedly violated her contract by skipping appearances and endorsing outside groups without authorization from her handlers.

Prejean, however, told Access Hollywood's Billy Bush Wednesday, “It's just because of my answer, I think… none of this would be happening right now if I just said, 'Yeah, gays should get married. You're right, Perez Hilton.'"

Miss California USA director Keith Lewis told FOX News today that the decision to fire her had nothing to do with her personal beliefs, but because she breached her work contract.
