  • 'Waste 101' Friday Special

052809_320_waste101_logo1Since taking the oath, President Obama has shown that he is not afraid to throw around your money.  First it was his $787 billion stimulus bill, then his $410 billion omnibus spending bill, and finally his $3 trillion budget.  And throughout this never-ending spending spree, the administration has been assured the American people that all of the spending would be done in transparent manner.

However, thousands of earmarks later, the list of wasteful pet projects that the American taxpayers have funded over the course of the last several months is staggering.

Tomorrow night at 9 p.m. Sean Hannity takes the Obama administration to task in a very special show, "Waste 101."  He will count down the 101 most egregious examples of wasteful federal government spending.  Reporters will be standing by around the country to report directly from some of the most ridiculous projects that President Obama has been funding in the name of economic recovery.

Do not miss “Hannity” tomorrow night at 9 p.m. ET

After being introduced at the DNC fundraiser at the Beverly Hills Hilton by famed producer Jeffrey Katzenberg, President Barack Obama compared himself to FDR.

"I would put these first four months up against any prior administration since FDR," Obama said. "We didn't ask for the challenges that we face, but we don't shrink from them either."

What do you think? Is Obama like FDR?

North Korea launched a tirade Wednesday against world powers threatening to punish it for conducting its second nuclear test, saying it is not afraid of sanctions and calling South Korea's decision to join an operation to prevent the spread of weapons a declaration of war.

The North also has reportedly restarted its weapons-grade nuclear plant. It staged a rally in its capital, Pyongyang, on Tuesday to celebrate the test.

The isolated communist regime said through its official news agency that it would respond with military action if South Korea tries to stop or search any of its ships as part of the U.S.-led Proliferation Security Initiative.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton urged Pyongyang to return to the six-party talks that it abandoned in favor of nuclear weapons, while another Obama administration official called Pyongyang's rhetoric "bluster." Click here to read more on the U.S. response.

Sonia Sotomayor will face some tough questions on her path to the Supreme Court, but President Obama's nominee to replace Justice David Souter is likely to sail through her Senate confirmation nonetheless, legal experts said Tuesday.

Among the chief questions facing Sotomayor will be the role of a federal judge, issues of affirmative action and discrimination, the Voting Rights Act and the effect of Sotomayor's judicial philosophy on her rulings on the bench.

Top of that list may be questions on comments Sotomayor made at a Duke University forum in 2005 in which the federal judge said, "The court of appeals is where policy is made."

Sotomayor will also face grilling over her role on a three-judge panel that declined to address the constitutional issues at stake in Ricci v. DeStefano, a case we reported on "Hannity" back in April involving white firefighters in Connecticut who claim they were denied promotions because of "reverse discrimination." The high court heard the case this season and has yet to issue its ruling.

What do you think? Is Sotomayor the right pick for the Supreme Court?

  • Obama's Memorial Day Misstep

President Obama marked Memorial Day on Monday with a visit to Arlington National Cemetery.  In a solemn ceremony, the President laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns before addressing a crowd of veterans and dignitaries at the cemetery's amphitheater.  And during those remarks, President Obama said this...

"So on this day of silent remembrance and solemn prayer I ask all Americans, wherever you are, whoever you're with, whatever you're doing, to pause in national unity at 3:00 this afternoon. I ask you to ring a bell, or offer a prayer, say a silent "thank you." And commit to give something back to this nation."

I think that's a call to action that we can all commend the President for making.  BUT... How did President Obama honor the National Moment of Remembrance yesterday??  By hitting the links!  That's right, the Commander-in-Chief was golfing with friends at a Washington-area Army base during the 3 o'clock hour.  But don't worry, White House aides say that the President did pause for a moment at exactly 3 p.m.

I'm interested to hear your thoughts on this...

Was this a mistake on the President's part?  Should he have been golfing during the National Moment of Remembrance?
